CASE STUDY

Centralized MDRs Improve Length of Stay

The Sound Hospital Medicine team centralized multidisciplinary rounds (MDRs) to improve hospital clinical engagement, stabilized case mix index and readmissions.

Leveraging Sound's unique clinical performance nurse (CPN) role to serve as liaison to all individuals supporting care for the patient, improved collaboration and identified avoidable delays important for patient discharge.
The team partnered with the hospital to:
  • .05 day reduction in LOS, within nine months
  • .11 day reduction in LOS O/E*
  • Stabilization of case mix index and readmissions

*O/E = observed to expected
